Autism and the Church

Prof Grant Macaskill
Baylor University Press, 2019

In this thought-provoking and helpful book, Prof Macaskill considers autism in the light of the bible.  He addresses challenges topics such as:

  • How to think biblically about autism

  • How does autism interact with the concept of people as image bearers of God, particularly when social interactions are impaired

  • How can we consider that perhaps at times, autistic peoples' treatment of others might at times be hurtful

  • Autism and an associated need for control of an environment, in the light of the truth that God is ultimately sovereign over all

This academic book provides plenty of food for thought on these complex theological issues.
